Baltimore Christmas Block of the Month

Baltimore Album quilts were made in Baltimore between 1846 and 1852. Those beautiful quilts inspire designer Pearl Pereira to create her own, unique Baltimore-style quilts. This quilt is inspired by a drawing of Santa by Thomas Nast who “invented” the image popularly recognized as Santa Claus today. Thomas Nast's Santa Claus was published for the 1862 Christmas season of Harper's Weekly cover. It was both of these elements that inspired the designer to do a Baltimore Christmas quilt after her very successful “Baltimore Halloween”. The 24” center medallion Santa block is surrounded by twelve 12” album-style blocks and finished with a beautiful holly border. The quilt finishes to approximately 69”x69”.

Our kits include all yardage for the top, borders, blocks and binding. In addition to the complete pattern, we also include a button pack, 12-wt Sulky Thread kit (6 colors) and baby ric rac.

The program starts in November, 2010. This is a 14 month program. You will receive kits for the 12 blocks, then in month 13, the kit for the center block and then the border kits in month 14.

The non-refundable enrollment is $25.00 and then starting at the end of November 2010 each month you will receive a new kit for $24.99 per month plus shipping and handling for 14 months.
